The F*&#ing Master Bedroom
I’ve spent most of my climbing life in a little known bouldering area called the Master Bedroom. It’s a huge cave that boasts over a half a dozen double digit problems! Oh yeah! Its big and burly. Pure power problems. Its where climbers go to get bitch slapped by rock. I like to go here to work power. There’s nothing like the style of climbing this rock elicits. Your grunting through every move from start to finish.
Working War Cry (v11). Originally FA’d by Ivan Greene, this climb starts midway out the cave. Matt Bosley came through and found a deeper start off tiny edges to create Nuclear War (v14).

Nick – where is this place?
It’s in a really cool park north of NYC… The Master Bedroom exemplifies how pushing your climbing limits gets you stronger much faster – Pat couldn’t afford a gym membership when he started climbing, but found this place on his own. He went from V4 to V8 in 6 months!

BYAAAAH! The bedroom’s lineup (< 50 feet of cave): v12 , v13, v10/11, v10ish, v14, v11, v9/10, v8, v10/11, v11, v6ish.
If you know of something with a higher concentration of double digits, I’d love to hear more about it! We couldn’t think of anything.
I’ve heard a lot about Bradley, but I haven’t been there – I hear you need to be shown around, and can’t really just show up and explore… so if you’re offering……
As far as GB goes, it’s just so completely different from the single bad ass burly roof that is the Master Bedroom. There are tons of areas in the Northeast with countless numbers of double digits, just none (that I know of) where you can sit in a single spot with so many staring down at your face.
I’m glad we can agree that there are lots of really awesome lines in the northeast.

I always find it funny to see the little pebble wrestlers get bent outta shape about New England spots…. wake up and move west like the rest of the real climbers. Slute you wanna take shots and then reference B-Rad bc its super secret? join dungeons and dragons for some cool secret mysterious places…. maybe you could geocache for fun? But its widely accepted the “bishops” “Eldo’s” and “yosemite’s” bitch slap the shit outta any secret choss blocks you have out there hiding beneath (something small and clever) -

I’ve been climbing Harriman for about 3 years now and this is the first I’ve ever heard of the Master Bedroom. If it isn’t super secret can you divulge where in the park this is? I’ve bouldered a lot of different areas in the park, and while there are a lot of formations that look similar to the bedroom I can honestly say I’ve never come across it in my exploits. I’d really appreciate it as I’m going to Harriman this weekend and want to check out some new problems.
I’m visiting from the UK and will be up in Harriman 7-12 August (staying with non-climbers) if anyone who knows the area is going to be up there please give me a shout!
