Nine Cornered Lake
General Info:
Some of the best bouldering in New York State! This beautiful destination is in the south west corner of the Adirondack Park Preserve. It boasts a plethora of beautiful lines in five main areas, and thats just whats been developed thus far! Consisting of granitic gneiss, the rock quality is excellent and allows for a wide variation of holds. Tons of “classics”! Come check out hundreds of house-sized Adirondack boulders!
The only drawback to the area are the bugs. If you decide to go to Nine Cornered Lake between April 20 and Mid June (maybe later), you may survive with 60 citronella candles, a few torches, a large bonfire, and full clothing (including balaclava). The black flies are heinous. However, don’t let this deter you from experiencing the amazingly beautiful climbs and scenery here! Go early spring, or late summer through fall.
P.S. Be sure to take a post-session dip in gorgeous Nine Cornered Lake which sits right next to most of the boulders. (Also the best spot to set up camp, which is free.)
