I feel like I’m climbing in circles
Chimney Rock Loop from Eastern Climber on Vimeo.
Well…the rain came back. Just as I was falling back in love with my favorite bouldering areas. It’s o.k. because I have a back-up spot. An all weather roof of gneiss! Thats right. It’s pretty damn awesome. Shown in the video is me, making a loop out of Chimney Left and Chimney Right.

Is this the Chimney Mountain in the ADKs?
I had a feeling there was bouldering on that mountain…
Nope, it’s actually a great little roof in Little Falls. We call it Chimney Rock since there’s a big, undulating cylindrical chimney right at the back of the roof that leads straight up to the top of the rock (you can easily climb right up and out). Apparently, there was a waterfall that carved out the hole when the whole landscape was being formed.
We go bouldering there when everything else around is wet or covered in snow. You stay dry, even if it’s raining or snowing!
If you go to the map page, you can find it right near Little Falls. Also, the guy who owns the property is really cool, so if you cross paths, make sure you thank him for his generosity. If you happen to make a small $5 donation to him for the use of his land, he might even share some inside beta on the rocks in the area – there are tons all along the cliffs.
I enjoyed the ironic choice of music. Looks like very gymnastic moves….
Yeah, the end gets a little crazy to down climb. Thank God for that jug mid-way through. We gotta get you out here to throw down on some of our eastern gems!
