Sends and Sunsets in the Northeast

Bookmark and Share

Last weekend, we went for some bouldering in the ‘Gunks to check out some new-last-season stuff.  These guys put up a lot of the new lines, after some locals spotted the boulders in the “new” sector.  This season, we’re all crapping our pants over how awesome it is.

After getting warm on the $1000 Schwapple boulder, we would move on up the cliff to Richie’s Roof.  There, new classics can be found, of much better-quality than most other boulders in the Gunks.  Plus, it’s a damned roof.  In the ‘Gunks!

Within the roof, a few notables are Cataclysm’s Edge (V7), Shake Hands With Beef (V8), Flight of the Ziz (V10), and Deuce My Load (V12ish?), a direct line of holds straight out of the steepest, longest section of the roof.

Cataclysm’s Edge alone was worth the trip…

What a place to boulder...

Awesome way to end the day.

… And Pat sent Shake Hands with Beef and Cataclysm’s Edge.  Niiiice….
