I few weeks ago, I finally made it out to CT for some super-secret bouldering. Yep, the Master Bedroom is still more badass, but BRad is sick, for sure. Glad I can finally put the kabosh on that little debate.

Over the next week, I’m going to hit Farley, Gunks, maybe IP, and the big surfing competition in Long Island. We’ve been doing quite a bit of that lately, by the way…

I am in the process of adding Justin Wright to the list of setters in the credits of the Divisionals video, and re-uploading it. He put in a ton of hard work, and I simply overlooked his name on my list of setters. A simple rushed mistake. Sorry dude!

I was at the UBC comp in Central Park. It was pretty awesome, and I have some thoughts I’m going to share soon, but not a whole lot that hasn’t been said already.

I can’t wait to get on Google+, and delete my Facebook account.

I’m just a generally competitive person, and I think that saying you’re a “fan” acknowledges an inherent superiority of the object of your fandom. So here goes.

I’m a fan of Alex Honnold. Here’s why:

Also, there’s a continuous shot of Adam Ondra onsighting a wet .14b. I’m a fan of the guy who got that footage, Bernardo Giménez.

New England / New York have been blessed with weekends full of sunshine, and we’ve been taking advantage of it. EC has been through the ‘Dacks, Western MA, Rumney, and spent some considerable time in the Gunks. Nick even did the summer bouldering comp at MPHC on a rainy weekend, where he flailed onto chalk bags, and was out-climbed by numerous women (although, that doesn’t say much these days).Pat has started rehearsals for a new show, It Must be Him (it’s hilarious, by the way – I got to see a preview), which just opened, so he’s mostly been living vicariously through others’ outside adventures.

All summer, we’ve been training like men possessed, and hopefully we will reap the benefits of our hard work once cool temperatures set in. We are also preparing for our respective CLIMBING TRIPS! Pat and Alessa will be going for a 1-2 week road trip to explore the Southeast, and Nick is going to take some time in the Denver/Boulder area.

Here are some pics from recent outings:

I decided to add a Reviews section. Unless something is so amazingly life-changing that we think you should spend your money on it, or so earth-shatteringly horrible that you’d be better-off pissing that money away, we won’t waste your time.

So, here’s the first review on my latest gadget, and why I no longer need headphones, an iPod, or wires connecting the two.

At last, they’ve done it. I didn’t think it was possible, but DeadPoint Magazine has released an entire issue focused on women climbers! I thought it was so bad ass, I decided to post a link to the issue. They even talk about female routesetters, which I’ve noticed is almost non-existent in the world of climbing, especially at elite levels.

It’s a good read all-around, and an even better look. I hope this is the start of a new trend…

My mother is an amazingly loving person, and since she hasn’t seen me in a long time, she decided to fly into Logan (which in itself, is enough to prove one’s selfless love for another), and book a hotel room in Auburn, MA so she can hang out with me this weekend. Now, you should understand that my mother is anything but an “outdoorsy” person. Quite the opposite. She enjoys shopping, going to spas, sunbathing on exotic beaches, and talking about girlie things, like shoes and feelings. She has no clue what climbing is all about, and really doesn’t understand what I do very well. I plan to remedy that.

Unbeknownst to her, I have planned a busy weekend of climbing-centered activities, including viewing a sport climbing comp at Central Rock Gym, bouldering (possibly sport climbing) at Farley Ledge, and maybe even some Lincoln Woods action. I know that there may be some whiny complaints, but hey, sometimes you need to endure a little of that to create a memorable weekend. Also my mother has a talent for generating unbelievably hilarious quotations by accident, especially when she’s annoyed, so I plan to bring my voice recorder and DSLR to document things.

And don’t worry about her. To smooth things out, I’m going to treat her to some Faneuil Hall/Prudential Center shopping, and delicious North End dining at Trattoria Il Panino, where I will undoubtedly get some Penne Vodka all up in my ‘stache.

Last weekend, despite the rain, me and a couple friends went up to Rumney for some climbing, and the birthday celebrations of Kelly Adams. A well-known dinner spot, the Common Man Restaurant, in the neighboring town of Ashland, seemed like a good fit for the occasion on Sunday evening.

As we sat in the charming establishment, we drank some Common Man brews (great microbrews), and perused the menu.

And then we saw it.

We ordered and ate the dessert before our dinner. I was able to snap one photo while it was only half eaten:

A day of sport climbing should always be followed with one of these. But be careful. Trutritionfacts.com wouldn’t approve.
